Although the bearing is composed of many parts, the cage can also be said to be the blood vessel of the bearing. Therefore, in the performance and use of the bearing, the material quality of the cage is directly related to the service efficiency of the bearing. According to the summary, China bearing network will share the main types of the bearing cage and the main role of the cage on the bearing, And the reasons why the cage is broken.
What is a bearing cage?
Bearing cage (also known as bearing retainer) refers to the bearing parts that partially wrap all or part of the rolling body and move with it, which are used to isolate the rolling body and usually guide the rolling body and keep it in the bearing.
The main types of bearing cages are mainly divided into three types: Nylon cages, window pressed steel cages and window brass cages. The following are the advantages and disadvantages of different types of bearing cages introduced by China bearing network.
Nylon cage: the advantages are light weight, strong elasticity, good sliding performance and good marginal lubrication performance. The disadvantage is that the operating temperature should be below 120 ℃.
Window type pressed steel cage: it has the advantages of light weight, high strength, no operating temperature limit, high-end shockproof and anti acceleration, and the disadvantage is that it is sensitive to poor lubrication.
Window type brass cage: it has the advantages of high strength, high shockproof and acceleration resistance, and is suitable for ultra-high speed operation related to circulating oil lubrication. Disadvantages: relatively (very) expensive.
The main functions of bearing cage are:
1. The cage separates the rolling elements at an equal distance and evenly distributes them on the circumference of the raceway to prevent mutual collision and friction between the rolling elements during operation;
2. Guide and drive the rolling body to roll on the correct raceway;
3. In the release bearing, the rolling element and a ferrule are combined to prevent the rolling element from falling off;
The bearing cage is damaged due to:
1. Insufficient bearing lubrication. The lubricating oil or grease is dry and not added in time (maintenance), and the label of lubricating oil or grease is wrong.
2. Impact load of bearing. The intense vibration in the impact load produces the impact of the rolling element on the cage.
3. Cleanliness of bearings. The bearing is not well sealed in the bearing box, and dust enters. In addition, the friction between the rolling element and the cage is required, so that the cage is damaged.
4. Wrong material selection of bearing cage. Various cage materials have certain requirements for temperature resistance and speed. If the material selection is wrong, it is also the cause of cage damage.
5. Installation problem. If the bearing is installed incorrectly, the cage will be damaged during installation.
6. Other reasons. If the coupling is misaligned, the bearing is skewed and the force is uneven; Belt installation is too tight; Environmental problems, etc. may damage the bearing or cage.
