The term “Bearing Reliability” is starting to become a term used in industry today, however it is generally referred to as a sub set of the term “Equipment Reliability”.
It can be argued that because the bearing is the rotating core of all equipment then any cost reducing initiatives should be focused on reliability of the bearing – in other words get the bearing performance right and the equipment reliability will follow.
Bottom line – the bearing starts to fail from the first minute it is put into service and in 90% of cases the damage process is not known until it is too late.
