The new ISO 50001 certification incorporates all HAYLEY DEXIS locations across the United Kingdom, and shows a commitment to manage the use of fuels and energy more efficiently.

HAYLEY DEXIS Awarded ISO 50001 Certification

HAYLEY DEXIS, a nationwide leading industrial supply specialist, has recently been granted ISO 50001 – Energy Management Systems certification by awarding body, The British Standards Institution. The award covers the Company’s headquarters in Halesowen, West Midlands, and its fifty branches and specialist centres located around the United Kingdom.

In order to gain the ISO 50001 certification, the Company was subjected to a comprehensive energy review involving all its nationwide network of locations. This gathered data on all significant energy uses including electric lighting, power for desk-based workstations, heating, and air conditioning, as well as petrol and diesel used in company vehicles. Twelve months of data has been compiled to inform the energy management framework now in-place to support HAYLEY DEXIS in reducing reliance on fossil fuels and improving energy efficiency across the business.

The Energy Management System has enabled HAYLEY DEXIS to implement objectives and publish internal guidance on things that staff can do to use energy and fuels more efficiently, such as, correctly setting thermostats to control heating in offices and warehouses, turning off laptops and PCs at night, and improving driving choices to reduce fuel consumption.

Mark Fulwell, Group SHEQ Advisor said, “It’s taken eighteen months to get to where we are now. There’s been a lot of hard work behind the scenes, from a lot of people across the group, to ensure we got over the line and secured the ISO 50001 accreditation, and it’s something that we are extremely proud of.” He added, “This is a significant milestone for us, and it signals a real investment in our objectives around reducing the carbon footprint associated with our operations.”
