Festo's UR+ certified multi-axis solution for Universal Robotics (UR) cobots adds four axes of motion to the UR cobot's six axes, embodying Festo's precision, reliability and longevity. This solution from Festo reduces customer engineering time and speeds up start-up when preparing for installation.
Cobot applications are designed to simplify configuration and operation. This multi-axis system is no exception. The setup process does not involve programming and does not require an additional PLC. Multi-axis configuration via UR HMI. The end user simply sets the position, velocity and acceleration on the HMI or, using the URCap toolbar, moves the axis in manual mode to configure the motion.
The multi-axis system features the Festo Motion Control Package (FMCP) for UR, a complete motion control panel for up to four axes of motion. The FMCP is fully integrated with the UR cobot control panel and HMI, and features UR safety I/O and communication interfaces.
In addition to the seventh axis for linear transport, the FMCP can also control turntables, automatic storage systems, conveyor belts and transfer tables, all under the UR umbrella. The FMCP has additional space within the panel for future expansion and brackets for wall mounting, reducing the footprint.
The seventh axis is also used to expand the reach of UR cobots in applications such as palletizing and machine maintenance. Festo EGC belt-driven or ball-screw linear axes are sized for a long service life and equipped with a cobot mounting plate. The EGC has energy chains for cable management and servo motors optimized for performance. Standard EGC shafts are available in lengths up to 8 m, shafts up to 10 m are available on request.
