Air bearing can also be called air floating bearing, refers to the sliding bearing with air (can also be other gases) as lubricant. The most commonly used gaseous lubricant is air, but nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, helium or carbon dioxide can also be used as required. In gas compressors, expanders and circulators, the working medium is often used as lubricant.
Air bearings are divided into three categories: aerostatic bearings, aerodynamic bearings and extruded film bearings. In general industry, aerostatic bearings are widely used.
