FREQUENT Q/A

What is a spark plug?

SINO BEARINGSJun 17, 2022

Spark plug is an important component of the ignition system of gasoline engine. It can introduce high voltage into the combustion chamber and cause it to jump over the electrode gap to produce a spark, thus igniting the combustible mixture in the cylinder. It is mainly composed of wiring nut, insulator, wiring screw, central electrode, side electrode and shell, and the side electrode is welded on the shell.

Spark plug, commonly known as the fire nozzle, its role is to release the high voltage wire (fire nozzle line) sent by the pulse of high voltage, breakdown of the spark plug between the two electrodes of the air, generating electric spark to ignite the mixed gas in the cylinder. The main types are: quasi-type spark plug, edge protruding spark plug, electrode type spark plug, seat type spark plug, pole type spark plug, surface jumping spark plug, etc. [2].
The spark plug is attached to the side or top of the engine. In the early days, the spark plug was connected to the distributor by the cylinder line. The spark plug's operating voltage is at least 10000V. The high voltage is generated by 12V electricity from the ignition coil and then transmitted to the spark plug
