Silicon nitride ceramics
Properties: non shrinkage inorganic material when sintering, low thermal expansion coefficient and high temperature resistance, strength can be maintained to 1200C high temperature without decreasing, excellent thermal shock stability and amazing chemical corrosion resistance, can withstand almost all inorganic acid and 30% of caustic soda solution, is a high performance electrical insulation material.
Advantages: good resistance to cold and hot impact, heated to more than 1000C in the air, sharp cooling and then heated, will not be broken, compared with alumina is not easy to heat transfer.
Disadvantages: low coefficient of fracture toughness, mechanical strength in ceramics belongs to the middle and lower, easy to crack and fragile.
Applications: high temperature bearings, mechanical sealing rings, pipes and valves of electromagnetic pumps for conveying liquid aluminum, etc.
