NRB Bearings Limited has acquired precision component manufacturer Mahant Tool Room (MTR), a move that strengthens the Indian bearing manufacturer’s position in the aerospace and defence sectors and advances its stated ambition of doubling consolidated revenue by 2031.

The deal pairs MTR’s AS9100D-certified expertise in precision aerospace components with NRB’s bearing technologies, a combination the company says will open access to high-value markets characterised by steep barriers to entry, while keeping capital intensity low through an asset-light manufacturing model.

“The acquisition supports our long-term growth strategy by enhancing our capabilities in precision engineering and expanding our presence in aerospace and defence,” said Harshbeena Zaveri, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of NRB Bearings.

Aerospace qualification remains one of the most demanding thresholds in precision manufacturing, and the AS9100D certification MTR brings to the group shortens what would otherwise be a lengthy route to entry. For NRB, the acquisition converts an adjacent capability into an in-house one at a point when Indian defence and commercial aviation programmes are drawing increasing volumes of domestic sourcing.

The company intends to build on its R&D base and established global customer relationships to accelerate opportunities across both segments, positioning the combined operation as a contributor to India’s wider advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
